The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra’s annual Independence Day celebration takes place tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Parc International featuring a performance from Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band.

The patriotic revelry begins with a block party at the “Freedom Fest” stage with a performance from Corey Ledet and His Zydeco Band starting at 5 p.m., followed by a performance from Lafayette’s Bayou Boys. This year’s headliner Grammy-winning artist Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band performs at Parc International at 6:30 p.m.

Red, White & BOOM! also features a number of family activities such as the Conservatory KidZone in Parc Sans Souci featuring interactive children’s music every hour starting at 5:15 p.m., an interactive petting zoo, face painting, patriotic arts and crafts, balloon animals, and more. The evening’s festivities culminate with the Grand Finale Fireworks Show beginning at 9:15 p.m.

Gates open for Red, White & BOOM! at 5 p.m.  Admission is $5 per person and gives patrons access to all three stages. The ASO is also partnering with FoodNet by offering one fre concession ticket in exchange for five non-perishable food items.  FoodNet’s most needed food items are boxed cornbread, canned tuna and peas.  Food and beverages will be sold on site.  No ice chests allowed. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Conservatory’s early childhood music education programs.
