The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra comes to Crowley this weekend, bringing the strings, the brass and all the other stuff that makes seeing an orchestra such a unique experience. The Grand Opera House of the South plays host to the brilliant works of Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Vivaldi, brilliantly performed by the ASO for this one-time summer event entitled “Summer Serenades.” It's a perfect musical ending to the summer with a taste of what is to come in the 26th season of the orchestra. Summer Serenades takes place on Aug. 29 at 3 p.m. and is sure to make for memorable Sunday afternoon.
David Calhoun and Elizabeth “EB” Brooks are the first two employees of Lafayette Central Park Inc., the nonprofit charged with turning Lafayette Consolidated Government’s 100-acre Johnston Street Horse Farm property into a passive public park. Calhoun was named executive director, and Brooks is director of planning and design.
