For the past year or so, women's roller derby has slowly crept into the cultural patchwork of Acadiana. Now it's somewhat of an official local sport with a league, uniforms, and all that stuff. In what they are terming the “School Yard Shuffle,” the Acadiana Good Times Rollers will face off against the Cajun Rollergirls at Top Shelf Sports, located at 1616 Youngsville Highway on Aug. 28. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door or you can buy them online. Bust it.
David Calhoun and Elizabeth “EB” Brooks are the first two employees of Lafayette Central Park Inc., the nonprofit charged with turning Lafayette Consolidated Government’s 100-acre Johnston Street Horse Farm property into a passive public park.
