The Acadiana AirFest is this weekend, Oct. 2-3, at the Acadiana Regional Airport in New Iberia.

The two-day air show will include several nationally known air acts, many aircraft of static display and a festival atmosphere with other attractions and events. The U.S. Air Force will showcase the F-16 “Viper” with an aerial demonstration of the fighter’s capabilities.

The Acadiana AirFest will also include a fly-in, with pilots from all across the U.S. flying their personal aircraft into Acadiana Regional.

“Acadiana Regional is ideal for an air show, with a huge runway, and plenty of open spaces for the public to enjoy terrific aerobatic acts. What will make our air show unique is that we will have [an] ‘up close and personal-in your face’ air show, with plenty of interaction between the performers, pilots and spectators,” says AirFest chairman Chuck Vincent.

“We work very hard to make sure the Acadiana AirFest will be a safe, family-friendly event," Vincent adds. "We’ve also made it very affordable for families to attend with special discounts available on tickets purchased in advance online at www.AcadianaAirFest.com, or at area Teche Federal Bank locations and Honda of Lafayette. In addition, we’ve added a ‘Flight Deck Premier’ ticket level that includes special VIP parking, a chalet on the flight line, food and beverage service and many other amenities." General admission tickets, which are good for one day, are $15 in advance for adults (ages 13 and over) and $7 for ages 12 and under. A family pass, for two adults and up to six children, is $30. Proceeds from the AirFest will be donated to charities dedicated to assisting veterans and families of fallen soldiers. Click here for more information and a full list of scheduled acts.
