Tonight’s the night. After two long years of construction, the new theater wing of the Acadiana Center for the Arts opens tonight with a ribbon cutting, tour and, of course, cocktails. Following the celebration is the first of over a week's worth of events. Rhythmic Circus, a Broadway-bound tap dance phenomenon backed by the funky stylings of a seven-piece band is performing Feet Don’t Fail Me Now! Don’t miss the is a high energy percussive dance set to a variety of musical genres spanning funk to salsa.
The ribbon cutting takes place at 6 p.m. and is free to the public. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., tickets are $15-20. If you can’t make it tonight, Rhythmic Circus will repeat the performance on Friday, 7:30 p.m.

David Calhoun and Elizabeth “EB” Brooks are the first two employees of Lafayette Central Park Inc., the nonprofit charged with turning Lafayette Consolidated Government’s 100-acre Johnston Street Horse Farm property into a passive public park. Calhoun was named executive director, and Brooks is director of planning and design.
There will soon be a whole lot of shakin’ going on at Benny’s Sportshack Supplement Depot, a new concept by Opelousas native Benny Nele. Located at 2002 Johnston St., the supplement shop, smoothie bar and café, featuring hot off the press paninis and wraps, plans to open in late May.
