LCEF-HI hosts second MusiCares dental clinic for music professionals

Good news for music professionals without dental insurance: the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation’s Healthcare Initiative (LCEF-HI) will again be a co-sponsor and host of a free dental clinic for all area music professionals on March 1. The dental clinic will be held at the LCEF-HI office located in the Acadiana Center for the Arts at 101 W. Vermilion in downtown Lafayette.

This free dental clinic will be open to all area music professionals including musicians, music producers, sound engineers and roadies. The dental services are being brought to Lafayette by LCEF-HI in partnership with MusiCares, the service division of the Recording Academy, the national Smile Program and the Acadiana Center for the Arts.

The previous dental clinic held Dec. 6, 2010 was such a success – over 40 musicians were provided with not only dental X-rays and cleaning, but actual services as well – they’ve decided to host another round.

The primary mission of LCEF is to be a catalyst for the development and enhancement of the distinct cultural industries of Louisiana by promoting the economic health and quality of life of Louisiana’s cultural economy workforce. LCEF’s Healthcare Initiative facilitates access to affordable primary healthcare services for cultural workers and their families. LCEF’s Economic Opportunity Fund grant program encourages entrepreneurial risk, innovation and economic growth for cultural individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations.
