Oasis Bellydance Studio is holding at once a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity and a student showcase where dance devotees may shake their bon-bons for the public.

Called The Oasis Gala, it will be at 6 p.m. June 25 at UL’s Lafayette Student Union Ballroom. All ages and manner of students will showcase all levels of skill and style: classic bellydance to tribal, to folkloric to even the Hawaiian hula and burlesque fusion.

The Oasis has been open for 10 years and teaches all the styles listed above, plus more. There are instructors to teach you how to bring accents like veils, fans, swords, finger symbols and even fire into your dance. Daily classes and weekend workshops are offered.

Habitat for Humanity is an international non-profit dedicated to providing affordable housing for the community its in. To date an estimated 1.75 million people across the globe have found homes through Habitat. The money raised from the gala goes to helping this goal.

If you get tickets in advance they are $5 for adults and $3 for children or $10 at the door for adults and $5 for kids. You can buy them in advance from an Oasis bellydancer or at the studio at 427 Rena Drive.
