A & E -> A&E MON, JUN 27 10:44AM by Anna Purdy

Every live album has that one person

You know how on every live recording of a music or comedy album there is always that one guy who yells when everyone else is silent, purely to make himself stand out on the record? If you want to be that guy, or punch that guy, The Viatones are recording a live album this Friday so now’s your chance!

At Blue Moon Saloon July 1, The Viatones are back in their stompin' ground of Lafayette and bringing Meagan Tubb & Shady People who hail from Austin, Texas, with them. The Viatones are a band that sounds like they should be crawling out of Gold Star Studios at 5 a.m. after recording all night, bathed in an analog glow. Their sound is the American 1960s all over again and their look is very British mod. Christiaan Mader and Peter Dehart of Brass Bed make up one half of The Viatones while Grammy-nominated Chris Stafford and the man with the most rock-n-roll name ever, Blayze Viator, make up the other. Their sound is nostalgic without being wistfully derivative and easy without being lazy. In other words, plain ol' good music.

You can listen to these gentleman here. For the Texas blues of Meagan Tubb & the Shady People, listen here. The fun begins at 9 p.m. Friday.

I can't go, but will someone yell "Freebird!" for me?
