Come celebrate the schlocky, the bloody, the huddled masses of zombies yearning to break free and eat brains: Louisiana’s first ever horror film festival is creeping its way into Baton Rouge this October.
The Fear Fête Horror Film Festival will be held Oct. 28-30, adorably near Halloween, at the Rave Motion Pictures 16 in our capitol city. Right now for $37.50 you can purchase half-off VIP tickets. VIP ticket holders are able to have special seating, skip ticket lines, and get a Dead Carpet Party (get it?) all-access pass.
From the press release: “The festival will kick-off Thursday night, October 27th with the ‘Dead Carpet’ VIP Party, which will feature free cocktails, cajun cuisine, filmmakers and actors awards ceremony and live music.” Here you get to mingle not only with those in the movie industry but other fans as well and expect to see some local Acadiana bands performing.
Some of the films being shown are being separated into specific blocks, according to your interests. Starting the Friday of the festival at 8 p.m. it is fantasy horror followed by zombie movies. Saturday at 8 p.m. are the thriller and paranormal blocks and Sunday at 4 p.m. is comedy horror and Best of the Fête. Many of the movies being shown are much shorter, from just three minutes long to several but at least one full-length horror movie is shown in each genre represented. A favorite is a short horror flick about what happens to those who text and talk on their cell phones during movies.
You can see the festival’s complete movie line-up on its dedicated website where you can also purchase tickets for the bloodbaths.
