Ten candles on Blue Moon's cake

What do you get for the venue that has everything it needs? Your attendance for its birthday party.

Nov. 26 Blue Moon Saloon hits the decade mark in giving you live music several nights a week. Located on Convent Street conveniently juxtaposed between downtown and Freetown, Blue Moon has been one of the most consistent venues in Lafayette, always hosting live music and some of the most interesting events and acts traveling through the area.

Blue Moon Saloon books acts from cowpunk to pop, from Louisiana roots to surfer roots. It is an outdoor venue with a huge porch overhang to protect musicians and dancers alike from inclement weather, whether too hot or too cold.

The Blue Moon is owned by Mark Falgout. It also has an adjacent guest house that acts as a sort of grown up hostel, inexpensive but nice with a healthy dose of bohemia.

The birthday party Nov. 26, Thanksgiving weekend, has lots of surprises in store. The first 20 people through the door get a Blue Moon shirt. The 2011 Black Pot gumbo winner, Jay Miller, is serving his winning dish and Brandon Broussard is giving out red beans and rice. Lots of drink specials and door prizes to boot.

The doors open at 6 p.m. with music beginning an hour later. The Bluerunners, Beauty and the Beatnik, Feufollet, Lil' Buck Sinegal and possibly more take the stage.
