The New Orleans’ music of The Rebirth Brass Band trumped two other Louisiana bands in the Best Regional Roots Album category at the 54th annual Grammy Awards held Sunday in Los Angeles.

The Rebirth Brass Band's Rebirth of New Orleans took the Grammy over four other bands, including releases by Lafayette's Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys', Grand Isle and C.J. Chenier's Can’t Sit Down.

Other nominees in the category were Hawaiian George Kahumoku Jr.'s  Wao Akua - The Forest Of The Gods; Jimmy Sturr & His Orchestra's Not Just Another Polka.

Another Lafayette local didn't get a Grammy nod, either. CC Adcock was nominated in the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media category as a producer on the compilation True Blood: Volume 3 release.

Instead, another release with various artists, Boardwalk Empire: Volume 1, won the Grammy.
