Bach Lunch in Sans Souci Fridays

There are Bach lunches all over the nation. The idea is to find afternoon delight in the marriage of music and food, a little respite in the middle of your workday. Of course, in Acadiana this doesn't mean classical music as much as it means Cajun or zydeco music in Parc Sans Souci in downtown Lafayette.

This Friday Cedric Watson, the premiere punk darling of Creole music, will perform with his band Bijou Creole. Mike Chaisson on froitoir, d’jimbe and percussion, Blake Miller on bass, Chris Stafford on guitar and Jermaine Prejean on drums with the latter three providing backing vocals for Watson. Watson is just as well known for his voice as his fiddle and accordion playing making him a triple threat, zydeco-style. He is reinvigorating the genre by playing with a ferocity yet honoring the traditions of the style and technique.

Bach Lunch is arranged and funded by the Lafayette Science Museum. The proceeds from food sales go to benefit its work.

Every Friday performance the food vendors change. This week it is French Press, Hub City Diner, Joey’s Specialty Foods and Roly Poly. Food begins to be served around 11:15 a.m. until 1 p.m. or it's gone. Music begins at noon.

Look for the weekly Bach Lunch line-up at our website, including the supporting food vendors, and we will also let you know if it ever needs to be canceled.
