Hurricane Preparedness Week

hurricane-rita2.jpgThis week, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is encouraging Americans to read up on hurricanes and be ready for the hurricane season which begins June 1 and runs through November 30. Check out NOAA's Web site to learn more about hurricanes and how you can prepare for them.

Last week, NOAA predicted that this season could produce six to nine hurricanes and announced that its prediction had a 60 to 70 percent chance of happening. It was the first time NOAA gave a probability to its hurricane activity prediction after receiving criticism for its past predictions for hurricane seasons, which have sometimes wildly missed the mark.
