This morning, KATC reports that I-10 across the Atchafalaya Basin is closed after a 18-wheeler carrying hazardous materials crashed and caught on fire.
And in New Orleans yesterday, where a tanker and a barge collided in the Mississippi River, there's 400,000 gallons of fuel oil in the river. The Times-Picayune reports that the area covers 100 miles, from the city down to the mouth of the Mississippi. Currently 90 deep-draft vessels are stalled in the river as a result of the spill. There will soon be a whole lot of shakin’ going on at Benny’s Sportshack Supplement Depot, a new concept by Opelousas native Benny Nele. Located at 2002 Johnston St., the supplement shop, smoothie bar and café, featuring hot off the press paninis and wraps, plans to open in late May.
