The local take on "Yes We Can"

Some local musicians and supporters of Sen. Barack Obama have created a music video in support of his bid for the presidency, similar to other online viral hits like Will.i.am's "Yes We Can," "Viva Obama," and "Si Se Puede Cambiar." South Louisiana musicians Dirk Powell, Christine Balfa, Jeffery Broussard, Corey "Lil' Pop" Ledet, Linzay Young, Zydeco Joe Citizen and others recently gathered at Jim Phillips and Christy Leichty's Whirlybird in Opelousas to cut the video for the original tune "Oui, On Peut," sung in French.

(Update, 10/22: Since first posting this on Tuesday afternoon, the video for "Oui, On Peut" has been viewed on YouTube 7,762 times. We suspect that a mention of the video last night on the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC might have helped that traffic increase.)

I'm certainly not a supporter of Mr. Obama, but I do like the video.

Zydec-Obama! I like this version better than the Will-i-am version.
