LSU plays for trip to college world series

LSU is hoping to make its final game in Alex Box stadium a memorable one, as the team vies to make its first trip back to the college world series in four years. Tonight’s game against UC-Irvine will be the last one played in the 70-year old stadium, which is being retired after this season. Thus far, the series has lived up to the grand finale billing. UC-Irvine ended LSU’s SEC record 23-game winning streak in the first game, helped in part by a controversial call on a hidden ball play that ended a sixth inning rally. Yesterday, LSU came back from three runs down in the ninth inning to force a third and final game tonight. The action starts at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
