Death of cockfighting zines?

From the AP:

The U.S. Postal Service has proposed banning cockfighting advertising from being sent through the mail.

Legal cockfighting ended in the United States last year when Louisiana outlawed it. But two magazines dedicated to the practice — The Gamecock and Grit and Steel — still are published.

The Postal Service has proposed a rule change that would label publications with ads for fighting birds or accessories as "unmailable."

The Postal Service says it will take comment on the proposal through the first week of September.

The Humane Society has been pushing for the Postal Service to change its rules. The group also filed a lawsuit against Seattle-based Amazon.com Inc. in 2007 in an attempt to get the online retailer to stop selling what is says are cockfighting magazines.

While I'm against Cockfighting, I don't think it's up to the Postal Service to censor what material is mailed. The Postal Service is going broke because it can't compete with private companies. The way things are going today they may regulate private companies out of business in order to support government operated businesses.

Right on!! I'm all for the banning of these magazines! What's the purpose of them if cockfighting is illegal? It's all trash!
It bothered me that I could live in a state where cockfighting was legal. That people enjoyed watching two innocent creatures tearing each other up. Thumbs up for the U.S. Postal Service!

Just as long as they don't ban High Times or the NAMBLA Bulletin.

I am not a cockfighting advocate by any means, but I do not understand why people get so upset about this topic. Mostly because of the simple fact that, WE EAT THEM. I understand why dog-fighting is outlawed; "mans best friend" and all. There are a lot more horrible things going on in the world, and I don't really understand why the USPS is at all concerned about this.
