The UL Lafayette School of Architecture and Design is seeking public input on two potential design schematics for its entry into the 2009 Solar Decathlon. The charrette, or planning dialogue, for the BeauSoleil Louisiana Solar Home project will be held Friday, April 25, at noon in Room 134 of Fletcher Hall.

The charrette will show work from UL's architecture students who are preparing to compete in the decathlon in Washington, D.C. The team, one of 20 from around the world chosen to participate in the competition, will reveal its final design at a May 17 fund raiser for the project. The name for the home was inspired by the Grammy-winning Cajun band.

The Solar Decathlon is a competition for teams of university students that design, build and operate an attractive, effective and energy-efficient solar powered house. In late September 2009, college and university teams from around the world will join the competition's organizers and sponsors to assemble a "solar village" on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
