On Wednesday, Feb. 18, City-Parish President Joey Durel will deliver an overview of the state of local government, along with a preview of his agenda for 2009. The event, part of The Independent Weekly's Lecture Series sponsored by IberiaBank, is from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Cajundome Convention Center.
Tickets are $40 per person, $330 for a table of eight. Ticket prices cover lunch and the cost of the event, with free seating available to anyone choosing not to have lunch. Space, however, is limited.
The luncheon will be recorded and broadcast on AOC.

David Calhoun and Elizabeth “EB” Brooks are the first two employees of Lafayette Central Park Inc., the nonprofit charged with turning Lafayette Consolidated Government’s 100-acre Johnston Street Horse Farm property into a passive public park. Calhoun was named executive director, and Brooks is director of planning and design.
