A memorial eulogy service for Judge Michael Sullivan is scheduled for today at 4 p.m. in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille, 330 St. Landry St. The 68-year-old 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal Judge died Dec. 29 at Our Lady of Lourdes.
Survivors include his wife, Shelley Vincent Sullivan; daughter Caitland Sullivan; son Patrick Sullivan and his wife Jean; grandson Andrew Sullivan; brother Rick Frayard and his wife Kiki; father-in-law Darrell Vincent, and sisters-in-law Carla Levers and Nicolle Tonore and her husband Greg. Judge Sullivan was preceded in death by his sister, Paula Sullivan, and his parents, Paul Ford Sullivan and Mildred Geneva Casey Frayard.
Born in Effingham, Ill., Sullivan graduated from Cathedral High in Lafayette and from Spring Hill College in Mobile with a bachelor of arts in philosophy. He served as sergeant in the U.S. Army as a Thai interpreter/advisor in N.E. Thailand.
Sullivan earned his law degree from Loyola Law School and was first elected city judge in Lafayette in 1983. He had served on the appeals court since 1995 and planned to run for re-election. The family requests that visitation be observed today from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
