The trailer for a new documentary about some of Acadiana’s most popular plate lunch places is up for sneak preview on YouTube. Raised On Rice and Gravy takes a look at how Cajun and Creole cooking evolved from home kitchens to neighborhood haunts like Creole Lunch House, Country Cuisine and Gary's, where chicken fricassee, catfish courtboullion, meatball stew and red beans and rice reign.

The film comes from the lens of director/videographer team of Conni Castille and Allison Bohl, who last year created the ironing film, I Always Do My Collars First. Produced by UL’s Cinematic Arts Workshop, Raised on Rice and Gravy, which was created in conjunction with the Lafayette Convention and Visitor Bureau, will premier in May.
