Blue dog transmogrified

bluedog.jpgThe blue dog is about to get bigger. Sixteen feet to be exact. Artist George Rodrigue is building a giant dog sculpture that will find a home in the Memorial Park area of Veterans Memorial Boulevard near Severn Avenue in New Orleans.

The aluminum jumbo dog is currently in the works at Lafayette’s Begneaud Manufacturing. When completed, the Times-Picayune reports, the three-sided dog will sport red, white and blue faces. Rodrigue expects the project to be unveiled on August 15.

This is a wonderful artistic project for New Orleans. The Bourbon Princes of the blood (princes du sang), especially, Philippe II (1674-1723) for whom New Orleans is named, would be quite pleased with Monsieur Rodrique.

This act also highlights a good point. When your society is in a Deep & Wide Recession, it is the Artistic system and the Scientific system that grows community wealth and morality. Here is where government funds should be largely directed; Louisiana should teach the nation by setting up a $500 Million Dollar program with $5 Million Dollar grants to our State's artists and scientists. The old fools in the Political system are too stupid to know this.

Read the 2,824 pages of the Five volume treatse, "The Oxford Encyclopedia of Economic History" Edited by Joel Mokyr (On sale for $375.00 now; was $750.00) for foundational validation. It is shocking how ignorant the American mob is of the Science of Economics. It is this science that keeps us alive!
