Sippin’ Sazeracs

I’ve been kicking myself around the block since I missed the deadline to get a press pass to Tales of the Cocktail, New Orleans’ four day mixologist blowout that took place last week. So I stayed home and made cocktails for my friends instead of imbibing with the best in the Crescent City.

Evidently New York Times reporter Jill Santopietro cashed in on the pass I passed on, then spent her time investigating New Orleans’ most famous concoction, the Sazerac. She does a nice job of noting the history of the 19th century drink and listing some of the best watering holes in town. Her recipe is also dead-on. Wish I could be bringing first-hand cocktail reportage to you, but second-hand sipping is certainly better than no sipping at all.
