Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu will be joined by cultural leaders from across Acadiana today to discuss the impact of the cultural economy on the region’s economic development. Joined by Scott Hutcheson, assistant secretary of the Office of Cultural Development, Landrieu will provide a progress report on the Cultural Economy Initiative, a plan developed in 2004 to generate policy, legislation and organizations for maximizing Louisiana’s draw as a cultural tourism destination.

The event will take place at 2:15 p.m. today at Vermilionville.
