C'est what? The Deuce is loose again!

Citing league sources,The Times-Picayune is reporting that the New Orleans Saints have signed Deuce McAllister, the team's all-time leading rusher and one of the most popular players in team history. McAllister was released by the team last spring after seven seasons, including two campaigns shortened by major knee injuries.

Deuce will not play Saturday. He will be inactive, but will be an honorary captain...

Benson is wanting to squeeze the Deuce, one mo time. Ay its best to go out kickin ass, than to go out a winnie. Ya can always talk the talk, if you dared to walk the walk . There are few men who reach, or dare, to reach, to take the ultimo modo, be it because they never had the chance presented to them, or because fear of the unknown prevented them from ever rising above their potential. it is best to make a great effort and fail than to spend one solitary minute moment

I’m not near as excited as most are on this. Actually, I think it’s a terrible decision pretty much across the board. The way I see it is there can be only two reasons for signing him:

1.Pierre is much more banged up than they are leading us to believe & they need some RB depth in the event we win this week and PT can’t go next.
2.They want to give him a ring.

I’m fine with scenario #1, as I doubt there is a better available back not currently on a roster.

Scenario #2 is a disaster. It is way too presumptuous and other teams will look at it as an insult. I don’t think he can provide anything more to the locker room than what has been established already this year. Hell, it might even be a slap in the face to some of the guys that have been in the trenches all year, to have him prance in at the end of dinner just to eat dessert. He was never a vocal leadership guy anyway.

Sure the Dome might cheer extra hard for a bit, but it’ll be very short lived.
