Mrs. Herbert was my fourth grade teacher in the 1975-76 school year at Hamilton Laboratory School on what was then the USL campus (now Hamilton Hall located across McKinley from the Student Union parking lot). She was a wonderful, energetic teacher who loved teaching her students as much as she now loves cooking her delicious Creole food. She was a caring and demanding teacher whose only concern was that her students learn to read, spell, write, add, subtract, multiply, divide and appreciate a good story. Lafayette Parish lost a great educator when she retired, but we and the rest of the world definitely gained an equally accomplished Creole chef. It may be a cliche, but it's true: they just don't make 'em like Mrs. Merline anymore! - Robert L. Broussard

No doubt Merlinme serves the best creole food in the south. Heres a thought, follow up on this and you'll experience a stepup in monge` Ms. Merlines stuffed bread. Have Merline cut your stuffed bread in half and pour a ladle of chicken fricasse`onto each half and take yo taste buds up up and away. Once you go there you'll can say you've had the best ! - chano leal
