Our worst fears tend to happen with Bobby Jindal right after the ink dries. He does not wait for bills to become a distant memory like our more corrupt past governors. He just just gets up the morning after he signs the bills and gives all honest citizens a good kick in the teeth with how he does business. Shame on him and shame on the legislature for passing this horrible bill and shame on us for electing the weak spineless people to office. may they look at their children tonight and say Mommy or Daddy just hurt the state and all our neighbors. I hope they do not notice. WE DID!!! - John Bernhardt

Thanks for the link, David. That was an interesting read. And I agree, the sentence is awkward. I think I intentionally use the "none is" construction because I'm a grammatical masochist. - Walter Pierce

Walter, I did not know that "none" was an apostrophe-less contraction. Thanks! I found this interesting about the word: http://motivatedgrammar.wordpress.com/2009/01/08/none-is-none-are-grammar-according-to-clarkson/. I still think that the sentence doe not read easily. Especially right after pointing out the blatant error before hand. Other than that; the article was well written and spot on. Thank you. - David M. Bruce

What, pray tell, is the error, David? Bear in mind, "none" is a contraction of "not one."
Methinks my grammar is perfect although, I'll allow, "schools was" sounds awkward. - Walter Pierce

Please review your following sentence for an error in grammar: "None of the schools was apparently visited by a DOE rep after applying to accept voucher students; contact was made by phone."
Just saying ;)
