I agree to a point Michael. A nice compromise might be to have separate fully enclosed smoking area, where servers could be protected from the smoke and force the smokers to walk a few feet to get their drinks. Like they used to have in the airports. A few trips to the airport smoking area was enough to convice anyone to quit. Imagine 50 people all chain smoking in a 400 sq. ft. room..... - Keith French

My son just turned 18 in march. He started smoking once he was able to enter a Bar because all "his Friends" smoke in the Bar. They can't buy alcohol either.... Yeah Right!!!!! I smoked for years, quit 15 years ago. Watched my Dad die form smoking. Now I have to watch my son do it.
Ban it!!! Die hard smokers will go outside to light up. Kids wanting to "Be Cool" will not go outside to smoke because they want to be seen being cool inside.

'There's no reason why a smoker can't simply step outside to have a cigarette.'

There should be no reason why a private business owner doesn't have the right to decide whether or not smoking is allowed in his/her PRIVATE business establishment! The same should go for someone over 18 to decide to wear a motorcycle helmet, wear a seat belt, etc. !!!!!!!

You're right Robert.
And it's a good thing that bar and casino workers have the right to leave these jobs to go to a smoke free environment if they so choose. If they wanted to work in a smoke free environment they wouldn't have applied for a job in a smoke filled environment. - Eric Yongue

Employees in bars and casinos should not be subjected to an entire shift's worth of cigarette smoke in order to earn a living.

There's no reason why a smoker can't simply step outside to have a cigarette. - Robert J. Wilson

How about letting the owners' of the establishments, including restaurants, decide whether or not to allow smoking and post it outside of the entrance. You and I can decide whether or not to patronize them. - Dudley E. LaBauve, III
