Yeah, I have been pleasantly surprised by Kermit myself. It seems as though things might be working out for the school system. Crossing my fingers. Also, I was informed that Pat Cooper has also recognized that the Master Facilities Plan is a bloated proposal, and can be done with much less money. I was told I have been vindicated in that matter.

Walter, a lot of auto workers owned GM bonds, and lost 90% of their money in the auto bailout. You may be surprised at what happens in Michigan. In a normal bankruptcy, bondholders would have been better protected. - Dudley E. LaBauve, III

Yeah, uh, boy do we regret that, Dudley!
;)
But seriously, we rarely do endorsements because they're such a crap shoot. We supported Kermit Bouillion's opponent. Kermit won and we think he's been a pretty damn good school board rep, the R behind his name notwithstanding. - Walter Pierce

By the way Walter, I didn't forget that your paper supported me during my campaign for school board. I am appreciative of it even if party affiliation doesn't matter as much in school board elections, and, even if your paper might not have supported me had you known more about my fiscal conservatism. To me, it was still a little good will that one day I may be able to return. - Dudley E. LaBauve, III

I don't think he has a prayer in Michigan, Dudley. The auto bailout likely secured it for Obama. Regardless, I meant Massachusetts, not Michigan.

Romney was raised in Michigan, has a shot to take Michigan, and I'll bet he is spending money there.

The Romney people still spent money with your paper. That's how you pay the bills. If I was a part of the Obama Campaign, I would spend a little money with the folks who support me, even if they are located in a state where they have no shot to win, but have the kind of budget both of these guys have. It's goodwill, and can pay dividends in the future.

Dudley,
We know Obama has absolutely no chance of winning Louisiana. I can't imagine why he'd spend a dime or a minute campaigning here.
I'll bet Romney isn't spending much money or time in his home state for the same reason. - Walter Pierce

It's possible that I just didn't see it, but where's the Obama Campaign Ad on this newspaper? Louisiana is a shoe in vote for Romney, and his campaign still spent advertising money with this paper in the business section. I am, of course, assuming the ad was not free! Is it not worth the Obama Campaign's effort to spend a little money with a supportive paper? Maybe they could sway a few Independents like myself. - Dudley E. LaBauve, III

What, your beloved President can't change his plans? His convention hasn't even started yet. Would it be considered a (campaign) survey trip had the President bothered to visit? If Romney hadn't changed his plans to visit the area, would you have said it showed a lack of compassion or leadership? - Dudley E. LaBauve, III
