<description>The challenge facing UoP, as well as all other &quot;for profit universities, is the federal Dept of Education has made student financial loans more difficult to obtain. Their are plenty of students willing to fill the seats at &quot;for profit&quot; schools, however, student loans are under much tighter scrutiny and are for more restrictive due to the high level of abuse and the higher level of default experience under such programs. Student loans amount to more than the sum total of all credit card and consumer debt in US. The default rate on student loans is almost 35% of all loans taken and 60% of those defaulting on such loans are students from for private institutions(PBS/NEED TO KNOW). The overall level of debt(p.s., student loans can not be discharged in bankruptcy)amounts to literally billions if not trillions of dollars. I feel for those individuals unable to pursue their educational goals, yet, I nevertheless applaud the federal government for setting higher more restrictive standards for using such funds.
