Brandon Shelvin is on record as stating that his constituency does not read the newspaper or "The Independent." It matters not what he does, or does not do, with regard to ethical, moral, social mores or lack thereof. He is loved and supported by the people of his district. Does the name Marion Barry ring a bell of recognition for anyone? In his last go round, reported in depth by "The Independent," no one from his district stepped up to make a formal complaint. No formal complaint, no formal charges. Hence, all of his reported actions were glossed over and accepted. AND, he was re-elected overwhelmingly to the parish council by the people of his district. - John Paul Stoshak

This story gives the phrase "friends with benefits" a different twist. These two characters and their actions should be investigated by a special investigator appointed by the State's Attorney General or the Adjutant General within the US Dept of Justice(I'm sure federal matching funds are part of almost all public projects).

These are "big kids" behaving very/very badly with the government's (federal/state/parish)money and a complete and thorough accounting is in order. - Greg Foreman

Woe is Brandon, same ole, same ole, akin a bakers dozen
Extraordinary Entrepeuner and everything not nice
Squeezing in again at the trough for a piece of the pie
Suddenly Brandon's Gauchassin's next of kin, a kissin cousin
Thank God along came Bertrand with a brother in law deal
Gots me a cuzin engineeeer, whose end-game we'll appeal
Gots to veil our move Brandon, yer constitients be buzzin.

Whar in thar hell is Hardy ? Come git ya a lap dance a la Ms " Diamond.

well that begs the question "did Brandon Shelvin get anything from Greg Gachassin to build a downtown housing project?" I know he got campaign contribution, as per an ind article, but what else is he doing to his district. I know he's not doing much, I live here and I can attest to that. How do we get all of his dealings look at? Did Joie de Vive just benefit shelvin, gachassin, becker and angle. It's certainly not good for the neighborhood. - Krista Fontenot

It's not for the "public" good if it only benefits one person, therefore the public should not have to pay for any of it. Shame on anyone who votes in favor of this blatant money grab. - Carol Ross
