I gave Cochon Lafayette several chances over the last 16 months. I'm a fan of Donald Link's places in New Orleans but had a gut feeling from the soft open that this pig wouldn't fly in Lafayette. I hate to see a restaurateur fail; especially a James Beard Award winner in such a "foodie" town such as Lafayette. Should have been a match made in heaven, right? So how and why did it fail? I believe Link's lack of presence and leadership at his own establishment is the main factor. Inconsistent and poor service comes in at a close second. And finally, the "Mais, I can make dat at home!" attitude is what drove the last nail in the coffin. Another one bites the dust in the "South's Tastiest Town". Bonne chance, Donald link. Adieu, Cochon! - David M. Bruce
