I'll give the paper the benefit of the doubt that they (the paper or person writing this article) was misinformed about this being a republican movement. I would however like for the paper to correct their article. This is a conservative and concerned citizens movement. I cannot speak for others, but as a participant these are the things that I am protesting about. The first is about what the federal government does with our tax money. The government is a business and needs to be fiscally responsible. The government bailouts are rewarding the banks for doing bad business. The national debt is skyrocketing putting us in debt to other nations. These fiscal responsibilities reach out to democrats and republicans alike! The Bush administration put us more into debt and the Obama administration plans to make the debt even larger. The 2010 budget is over 3 trillion dollars! where is all that money going too? This isn't just about the executive branch but also congress. Some of our "representatives" didn't even read the budget bill! The second is the broad power that the federal government has. Things like presidential executive orders are illegal by the constitution. The federal government has been ebbing away states rights for decades. Its time that they know that they work for us! To reply to the person about the LCG property taxes, there was at least one person holding a sign against president Durel. Also to reply to Kim, I will not be silent about the issue as long as I have wind in my lungs and a tongue (or keyboard) to speak about it. To reply to Mr. Mick, its not about me as an individual. I do not mind paying my taxes because I still believe that my tax dollars are going to good things like paying our teachers and our law enforcement. This is not about the individual tax payer, its about what is fair. I could care less if I got any money from the government. I work, I live in a free country, and I should pay taxes. I just want to know where my money is going. I hope this clarifies the point that some of us are trying to make and it is my hope that the independent clears up this article a bit. I am one of those who makes over 250,000 dollars a year and thus will face an increase of taxes once Obama rolls back those Bush tax cuts in a couple of years. I for one am outraged that I will have once again to pay in the tax rates that Reagan approved of. It is way too much to expect for me to pay a few extra thousand per year to support the federal budget, just because I am in the top five percent earner's bracket in the country who will thus face pre-Bush tax rates. I don't know about you patriots, but I for one ----MUCH---- preferred Bush II's plan to cut my taxes further and then take out nearly a trillion dollars in loans from China in order to pay down the interest on the budget deficit he created with those cuts. Can we PLEASE go back to Bush's plan to borrow money for our federal operational budget from China so that I can pay a few thousand dollars less in taxes? PPLLEEEAAASEEE????
