PawPaw... I've been there... I've worked for companies and corporations that provide group health care that's 'affordable'. 25% of my paycheck goes towards those policies. And when I'm laid off, I don't have it. Neither does my wife... Neither do my children... And I sweat bullets worried something might happen. But it is not the government's responsibility to take care of me, it's mine! They provided the education, I took advantage of that. So you go off with your 'entitlement mentality' and suck up to who ever you think will take care of you. As for me, I'll trust in my skills, my work ethic and, most importantly, my God. That's how my dad and both my Paw Paw's raised me. So if you prefer the way other countries 'do it', move. And it's not just 'communistic'... it's tyrannical. - Independent Tea Party Member

Not only were we angry that Kathleen Sebelius came to our state to spread the religion of Obamacare - something that will bankrupt this nation ...

We're also angry that this radical abortionist of the left brought her face to our state. If this were 1776, we'd have tarred and feathered her and ran her out of town in a wheelbarrow as our forefathers did to the Tories of the time.

Lucky for her we're more civilized than they were.

We don't have any use for her down here - nor any use for Obama Socialism. - HondaV65

To "Truth", lol, Yes, the rape and pillage of an ENTIRE COUNTRY is the ultimate crime. That's what Mr Cheney (the real president over the last 8 years) has done. High crimes and treason. Put hot sauce on it and smells the same, rotten to the core.

And Glen, Your folderol spawned all the crap you are now trying to distance yourself from. Are you so blind? No, of course, you will shout to the roof tops proclaiming your organization had nothing to do with the videos, just your unofficial members. The same old same old shit.

Hey, Tea party member, Yes, you could get better treatment if you pay enough for it. I am assuming your access to health care is as uncomplicated and easy as pie. Try not having those services for a year or more and see how hard it is. We are the only industrialized country that doesn't supply this service to it's citizens. But, of course, it's "communistic" to pay enough taxes to provide these services to the population at large.

I am the lead organizer of Acadiana Tea Party and I can absolutely state that we have NOTHING to do with Tea Party of Louisiana nor ANY of the videos they tout. This article is indicative of piss-poor journalism. The Independent has both my e-mail and my phone number. But rather than call me to verify their thoughts of associating Acadiana Tea Party with this "Tea Party of Louisiana" (which by the way is a rogue organization not associated with by the other tea party organizations around Louisiana) the Independent purposely chose to forgo objective journalism. The section of an e-mail they present was in fact written by me. But I do NOT endorse the conspiratorial views of the Tea Party of Louisiana, NOR their videos. I DO however affiliate with "The Louisiana Tea Party" which is a loose conglomerate of tea parties across the state, unlike "Tea Party OF Louisiana". - Glenn Ellerbe

"The call for a road trip to the town hall-style meeting went out over the weekend to members of the Acadiana Tea Party, a conservative group confederated with the Tea Party of Louisiana and similar conspiracy-minded organizations nationwide suspicious of Obama’s plans for health care reform, environmental policy and a host of other initiatives."

I beg to differ... I was in Reserve yesterday... as were several members of at least four other Tea Party organizations and I can also state as FACT that the Acadiana Tea Party is NOT affiliated with the Tea Party of Louisiana. And we (independent Tea Parties) certainly don't fall into the "conspiracy-minded organizations" catagory. That's a very, narrow field in this state.

In response to 'laughing_at you'... Facts? Look at Europe, at Canada. I've been there and, more importantly, I've spoken with doctors who've worked there. Go to the OECD website and compare the health care statistics between countries. Research the average waiting times in ER's, the number of CT and MRI units per capita, the elapsed times between a visit to a GP/PCP and an appointment with a specialist. The waiting periods for hip replacements, diagnostics, about freedom of choice as to which doctor you wish to see vs. one that's assigned to you by 'The State'. Between the cancer therapies available in US compared to the UK (where, to the government, some just aren't 'cost effective' enough). Then compare their tax rates and ours (for the time being anyway...) and you'll see where they're getting their medical funding. You think insurance is high? Take that amount and add the cost of a Washington DC bureaucracy into the mix.

Our system needs lots of work, not doubt about it. But what has the United States government done that private industry hasn't done better... and cheaper? We can all see how well Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etc. are working. The fact that our accumulated national debt of 233 years was doubled in a matter of weeks this year doesn't encourage me in the least. So if you want health care reform, I suggest you put the two major entities involved, the patients and the doctors, together and let them work it out. Leave the government, the insurance companies, the lawyers and the big-time hospitals out of it.

And in response to 'pawpaw'... You want evidence of treason, try this? The definition of 'socialism' at the Merriam/Webster website is the following:

1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state

3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

It seems to me the current session of Congress and the current administration seem to be headed closer to an 'act of treason' than any of the Tea Party groups. As dissatisfied as I am with the previous administration, at least they didn't seem to be taking from 'those that work' and giving to 'those that won't'. They never took control of corporations and banks. They didn't have one of the four major news networks camped out in the White House and two of the other three clawing at the front door. They didn't run prime-time 'infomercials' trying to sell their socialist agenda to the populace. And in case you haven't read the Declaration of Independence, it states "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal", not 'guaranteed equal things'. And while we may be the 'losing side', you'll never, ever, convince me it was the wrong one... I just want better choices next time. - Independent Tea Party member

TEA Parties I've been to consisted of people of all political parties, college grads, military veterans and widows, retired officers, hard working people who oppose taxes being increased on everything, some own small businesses that will be driven out of business by increasing taxes, insurance, and regulation. - Barfgagwheeze

Why all the fear and discussion. All the Obama administration has to do is copy one of the successful socialized healthcare plans already in existence. Like maybe Canada, France or England. Well, there must be one somewhere that they could copy. But as long as it is Obama proposing it surely only the far far right would see any reason to question his vast experience and knowledge. After all, he isn't required to be accountable to the far far left. They just think if he says it, then it must be just lovely. If a republican was proposing the exact same thing, they would be all over it with a magifying glass! - What, me scared?

"The worst criminals in the history of the United States of America were just VOTED OUT OF OFFICE."

Wow. So you consider child rapists and serial murderers to be better citizens than someone of a party affiliation you don't like?

There just as many ghetto Democrats as trailer park Republicans, and probably both segments are too ignorant on the issues to cast an informed vote. - Truth

The e-mail should have closed with, "Paid for by members of the RushLimbaughCoalition. May all liberals rot in hell."
Is this e-mail all it takes to convince Louisianans that this plan may or may not be a good idea?
How about some fact-founded research, or a breakdown how much farther into debt the plan will actually bring us...using real numbers from the CBO, not some right or left wing PAC that calls itself a "research group."
I still don't know whether I support it or not yet, but I can't help but wonder how many trailer park Republicans will actually be better off with a government health insurance option?
I'll take anything at this point to stop the propaganda being spread by college dropouts who make hundreds of millions of dollars a year to feed b.s. to the ignorant. - laughing_atyou
