Great, now that our grid is going to be more reliable, we need to convince LUS to clean up their energy stream. Roughly half or more of LUS power supply is generated burning highly polluting coal from the Wyoming Powder River Basin.

Our first effort in Lafayette should be an utility/municipal incentivization scheme for lowering power consumption through efficiency credits/payments as many other corporate, cooperative and municipal electric providers throughout the US do currently.

Secondly, we should begin to encourage the deployment of renewable energy systems throughout the city, and also begin purchasing or generating a portion of our electric power through renewable systems.

Heating household hot water through a solar system is one of the most affordable and efficient solar systems currently available. This would also stimulate our local economy by virtue of the costs expended for consulting and installation and purchases of these systems from a network of local dealers.

Now that we have Fiber on the roll-out, Lafayette needs to move on to the next big feather in our cap of progressive, efficient thinking and action.

(More bike lanes would also help lessen our resource use in this town, vis-a-vis infrastructure costs and concrete production.)

Thanks Ind. - Mr. Clean Energy
