When you say that you don't think the man (Mike Stagg) can hold down a regular job, are you talking about our dim-witted governor?

He might be dim-witted but he's the Governor which is more than you can say about Stagg.

This isn't an election. The station is under no obligation to give them equal time. BUT, give FCC's Diversity Czar Marc Floyd enough time and the station will have to.

Well, Technically, There is a difference between a "public" entity such as the LUS which is own by the people, local government of Lafayette, and the "PUBLICALLY TRADED" private company Gray Broadcasting, General Motors, oh wait now I see, the comunists have confused you on public ownership. TV 10 is owned by it's stock holders not the general public, well for now at least it is owned by the stock holders. I imagine that when Ba-Rack is on the verge of lossing his Chavis inspired election he will take them over as happend in Venezeula. - info mercial

I'm sure the Democrat proletariat could have had "Comrade" Melancon represent them, but I understand the Frostbite on his "private parts", acquired on his publicly costly Congressional sojourn to the South Pole, ostensibly to study Penguin mating practices in light of “Global Warming”, has not yet healed. Perhaps this is also the reason that he has not held any Town Halls on ComradeCare.

Three politicians aired their beliefs concerning Health Care Reform. If the three politicians had been pro Health Care Reform the same people who objected to the program would be praising KLFY for their intelligent and unbiased broadcasting. It is obvious to everyone, including a few Democrats in favor of Health Care Reform that the general public (Democrats included) is not in favor of the President's Health Care reform plan. - iluvlafayette

With most elected office holders in Louisiana in prison.
Who cares what Louisiana Democratic Executive Committee thinks or
say.

They can't even agree amongst themselves.In-fighting at its best.

And ask yourself, since when do the Dem's care what the Republicans think about healthier care. They put their whole plan together without a single Republican input. Charlie Boustany is a doctor with years of experience. You would think the Dems would say "Hey Doc, what you tink bout des id's?" Non non. Can't be asking dat. - Phil

I remember when Pat Cravins was running for State Senator. They gave her plenty of facetime on the newsdesk, about 5 minutes worth, and plenty of coverage down the road. Didn't give it to any other candidates. - Phil

KLFY could not get a sitting Democrat congressman to go on there even if they wanted one. The only Democrat Congressman in the state is Charlie-Boy Melancon and he is nowhere to be found. - Veefox

KLFY should have made sure that the telecast was balanced for this highly contested national issue especially knowing that Acadiana has both a Republican and Democratic Congressmen serving this area. Just seems like it wasn't thought through very well by the station. - ADS

Well, it used to be that broadcast media had to abide by a Fairness Rule and several others for several decades to regulate issues such as this. Those rules are history, which is why we have talk radio, and increasing editorialization on the TV broadcast media.
Of course there are such comments made on cable tv, but that is not the issue. As most people obtain the information they base their decisions upon, from the TV, and when they receive locally specific information, they are doing so from local broadcast stations, the inability to get equal access for political speech sets an unlevel playing field.

While this may not have been an election specific event, if no panelist views other than those of the sitting congressmen were offered, then the public isn't being served by a healthy debate in this, the only form of a functional public forum we have left.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine

Everyone should remember that the public airwaves are not an unlimited resource. There are only so many to go around, and furthermore, the financial ability to broadcast and then have the eyes and minds of the citizenry at your attention render a very limited set of gatekeepers to this mode of public discourse.

Broadcasters unlike newspapers, should then be held to a higher standard to make available many opinions for in the most objective manner possible. This is the public trust they guard on our behalf. - Jason D. Faulk

In response to Surfing Jesus - Technically KLFY is not a private company just like the Independent. They are managed by Grey Media and owned by Young Broadcasting, a publically traded company now in the middle of bankruptcy. - Well, technically....
