Another waste of valuable TV time. Me, I be watching Kanye West on MTV.

Folks, the point is not that KLFY aired an obviously right biased piece of disinformation. As Jason D. correctly pointed out, that is par for the course for media outlets in this hopelessly red state. The point is that the program was disguised and presented as a debate format for all views on these issues and not as the propaganda piece it obviously was for the wingnut point of view. - WTF?

As a democrat myself, I must say that I find it funny that the Independent has chosen to target TV10. KPEL FM is obviously in every way Pro-Republican. Do you people ever listen to the views on that radio station? I think not! I also feel that if you are going to write a story perhaps you should have all the information first. - Jason D

Thank you, Straight Talker, for some perspective.
Don Banks at SI, as you probably know, raised da Saints up to 7 in his post-pre-season power rankings. We shall see.
In the meantime, I'll be at Cajun Field Saturday night for what I'm confident will be a very minor upset by the home team, Snyder's return to coaching notwithstanding. - Walter Pierce, Managing Editor

Lets be honest here, how many really ever watch a rebuttal speech? So predictable each and every time, so please wipe the tears and prep yourself for some football action this weekend. So immature to even whine on such. - Straight Talker

Yes, really unfair. It reminds me of how Obama is going to get a full hour of national air time to press his healthcare agenda, then Dr. Boustany will be given five minutes for rebuttal.

One hour Obama, five minutes Boustany, the weather channel is looking good. - Surfing Jesus

I think Congressman Boustany's 5 minutes will be a bit more beneficial than the 1 hour spin cycle from the President based on nothing else than the Doctor's knowledge on the healthcare topic.

I find it interesting that if a media outlet does not confirm your our personal position on "insert topic here" they are immediately labeled as biased. I wonder if we treated our friends, family, and neighbors the same way we would find ourselves alone in in own self absorbed worlds drinking nothing else than poltical Kool-Aid all day long.

People, please! If I wrote a column about roses I'd be accused of a bias against daisies!
So I rib a TV station for a one-sided forum, rib state Democrats for an overall flaccid response thereto and acknowledge that both sides of the debate agree that health care reform is needed.
Can I do nothing right? (pun intended) - Walter Pierce, Managing Editor

I have to give Mr. Pierce credit, the article may be biased, but at least he didn't mention Vitter's name, a first for him.... - justwundering

Mr. Smyth - that is not actually true. They did not "scour the state" in fact they never even called the state party office or the Caddo Parish Democrats about this issue as we have scores of Doctors, Nurses and others who would have been more than qualified and able to be part of this panel. Instead they turned to the National Democratic Party and they simply gave them a name of someone. And he didn't cancel "at the last minute" but infact canceled first thing on Monday morning before the Wednesday taping due to him coming down with the Flu.

UPDATE THOUGH - KLFY has offered the Democrats 60 minutes to put together our own forum and we are working with them now to put that together. We will update the public when that is scheduled. We thank KLFY for recognizing that both sides should be heard on this matter and see this as their firm commitment to the community as a whole.

Yes, really unfair. It reminds me of how Obama is going to get a full hour of national air time to press his healthcare agenda, then Dr. Boustany will be given five minutes for rebuttal.

FYI, the government plan offered to member of Congress is basically a menu of private plans from which they get to choose. Granted, they are really good plans paid for by the taxpayer that most of us could never afford. . .but they are private health plans.

Mr. Pierce, you've made it plainly obvious in all of your columns that you are a Democrat. That's fine. But take a minute to go back and review your articles. The large majority have a more than left-leaning slant and are riddled with inaccuracies (as Mr. Jim Smyth aptly points out). My question is this: Does the ironically-named "Independent" purport itself to be a credible "Independent" news source? If so, why the recurring theme of bias toward the Left and against the Right?

I've thoroughly enjoyed the addition of The Independent to our area. I think, for the most part, it does a great job of covering topics important to our area that would otherwise go uncovered. That being said, everytime a venture is made into the political arena its the same old thing: a news outlet that presents the story it wants you to see, not the actual story. Please fix it. The Advertiser works very well for my crawfish and crab boils. . .I'd hate to have to make the switch. - Tiredofit

Pierce fails to mention the most important thing about the forum. That is that KTBS scoured the state to find any, ANY Democrat who would participate in the forum. The only one that could be found was a Democrat Physician, Dr. Dawson, who recanted just before air time. Pierce, you need to tell the whole truth next time. - Jim Smyth
