It also "all depends" on which numbers you look at, how accurately the numbers were collected, how people interpret the numbers, and what decisions people make in response to those numbers. The fact of the matter is that Lafayette is one of two towns to grow in Louisiana this decade. We were voted one of the TOP TEN mid-sized towns in the NATION that are business friendly. This town is set to be the biggest town in Louisiana within the next two hundred years. Northsidian, if you have been in the management position of any business you would know that the hardest thing to control is soft costs. These are the costs that aren't normally trackable. It is all in the numbers. When people know that they are being watched, they will consume less. This directly refers to the GPS systems that you think are useless. This will be money saved and will set a precedent of resposibility. These aren't Tom Tom's. Do some research and you will see how it will save money. The city/parish government experiment has run its course and, along with a short-sighted council (save one or two exceptions), is dragging the city down with it. As for upgrading the water system: Until the voters approve another tax increase and/or accept a LUS rate increase, it isn't going to happen.
