I hate to see an old established newspaper like The Advertiser go down the toilet this way. I have memories of seeing my dad reading the paper during the afternoon news and very early in the morning with his first cup of coffee. The Advertiser was a staple in our household from probably 1960 to 1997 when Dad died, but it was delivered to my house until a year ago. I just got sick and tired of the shrinking print, the shrinking paper size, and finally, the shriking amount of news that can be printed in a newspaper nearly the size of toilet paper. I still get delivery on the weekend, but that's enough to remind me how bad it still is. This past Sunday I looked for the end of an article I never could find. I finally read the story in The Advocate. I called the paper to leave a complaint, but never rec'd a return call... I hate to see the demise of The Advertiser and more importantly, I hate to see people out of work. I just think it would be such a shame if a city the size of Lafayette, a city of prominence in the state, to be without a city newspaper. I, for one, appreciate speaking out against the media giants that buy out small papers and then run them into the gutter. - Morrow

What is the obsession with the Advertiser? I'm glad they don't stoop as low to play this game with you. Go out on the streets and get some real news that the people want! This gossip makes you look cheap! You could at least get your story straight if you have to bash the Advertiser. They have 15 hard working graphic designers. Who's ever feeding you the info., obviously doesn't know how to count.
Now go out and get some real stories!! - PeaceOnEarth

How is The INd privy to publish news articles befor the Advertiser?
It seems that the Advertiser, with its good ole boy mentality, and behavior of being the good ole boys guardian, by not publishing some of the behind the scenes goings-on and releasing details after the BR. ADVOCATE $ THE LAF.INDEPENDENT release articles, "GANNETT", newspaper is not providing what LAFAYETTE'S NEEDS, they must realize this by the loss, of retailers ads and subscriptions. The Daily Advertiser is a ghost of its former self, GANNETT NEEDS SOME "INK", for their printer. - NORTHSIDIAN SHOTGUN
