Take downtown back from what? His restaurants, along with the other restaurants in the area have brought more traffic downtown in the past few years than it has had in a very long time. People complain of the bar and nightclubs...then others complain that one person has too many restaurants downtown. If you are so inclined to put down others hard work, then why don't you go out and open up a restaurant or establishment in the area that shows off your so-called "variety?" Your comment- "Bad customer service/poor employee relations/cheesy attempts at trendy...all signs of a Balbeisi business" Apparently you are not aware of the scholarships his company offers at UL, the many charity events they participate in or donate to, or the local schools that they support... I'm a HUGE supporter of the downtown area and the Balbeisi's. If the customer service, food, and business practices were so bad...do you really think they would still be in business? Doentown needs excitement/change/variety, not the same old regurgitated trendy/cheesy clubs and eateries such as Trynd and Collage Cafe (glad to hear they were sold). Downtown does not feel anything like Lafayette or Acadiana. Will an udscale Italian eatery (not run by Italians) and cigar shop bring new people/investors to Downtown? NO!
