Criminals go where the money is and right now the people with money are downtown drinking and at the Mall shopping. Watch the crime stats re: shopping centers, they're gonna see an increase as well. Moving people from downtown bars to somewhere else is only going to move the criminals to somewhere else.

Want to fix the problem.. ... Add some lights, lots of lights. the stickups are in the dark areas and some surveillance cameras and everybody carry a gun. Problem solved.

Plumpy, you are once again completely misguided. I guess being wrong is just in some people's nature.

The crimes that are commited down town are not a result of the patrons of the bars. They are the result of a homeless shelter that is placed in the heart of a growing mid-sized town. It is simple, take way the criminals and the crimes will deminish. I used to hang out at the "Strip" and I used to hang out down town. Down town is a well established center for arts and entertainment. Closing the bars would be like cutting off your hand to save a finger.

Here is a little information that you probably didn't think about. In the mid eighties and early nineties, it wasn't safe to go down town at night. After street scape, the place lit up. The down town area is a success story that most towns would pride themselves on. Find another town in this area that has an art walk. The crime was always there because of the homeless shelter and the bus station. Move those, and the crime goes away. - Solutions?

This resident is in full support of Mayor Joey Durel and Chief Jim Craft. I agree with them. Enough is enough is enough. Thankfully, they have stood by the residents when everyone else has abandoned us. - Julie Calzone
