I always liked mary matlin, but it does'nt suprise me that a republican caved into the left, because she just could not take being not invited to those snooty exclusive get together events that the left likes to throw, while all the time telling the underclasses like us how they care! Oh,by the way,I'm a conservative libertarian.I can't stand most republicans because they don't stand up and fight, they cave in and let the libs walk all over them! So Mary, have a stiff drink, talk about global warming, shoes, how you agree with a lot of leftist stuff and just go away! Mark might be a good mayor,I'm sceptical! - doubting joe

Even the local Republicans were in support of a liberal Democrat to make him a stonger force in order to defeat Landrieu. Trading one problem for another isn't the answer though. What conservatives in New Orleans ought to be doing is going door to door for Mr. Couhig. If you claim to be a conservative...be a conservative and get this one elected. Otherwise, you've got Mitch as your new mayor and we'll all suffer for that. (It's not personal, Mitch. It's business.) - Robin Edwards

Mary Matalin is a big disappointment. She has moved to New Orleans--and thinks that the rest of Louisiana thinks like Orleans Parish and the hypocritical Democrats who have always run that city and that her husband hangs around with. - SDAV

Maybe this will be the beginning of the end of the Carville-Matalin song and dance routine. Not a better pair of political opportunists out there. Maybe...no, not really, even with this I doubt that much of the public will take notice. I'm sure the duo will...uh already has, come up with a new routine to spin this too. Sad. - bono

Mary Matalin, she is officially a nothing anymore. A paid political hack with no base principles, but we knew that anyway didn't we? - Joe the Poster

I can define neoconservative. The ideology that embraces big government for the purpose of pre-emptive invasions and global hegemony (look up Project for a New American Century, Dick Cheney et al). Neoconservatism is about aggressive foreign intervention and dismantling civil liberties in the pursuit of security (their idea of it). It's fine with deficit spending and runaway borrowing as long as we are "projecting global military preeminence." It's fine with evengelicals' intolerance and social engineering as long as they bring votes to their party, as well as promoting religious conflict between Christians and Muslims. It uses the specter of terrorism to declare a permanent state of war for the goal of increased executive power, no checks and balances. Neoconservatism bears little resemblance to true conservatism, and is the most likely vehicle for 21st century fascism. - Resident

A recent use of equal protection doctrine came in Bush v. Gore (2000). At issue was the controversial recount in Florida in the aftermath of the 2000 presidential election. There, the Supreme Court decided that the different standards of counting ballots across Florida violated the equal protection clause. It was not this decision that proved especially controversial among commentators, and indeed, the proposition gained seven out of nine votes; Justices Souter and Breyer joined the majority of five—but only, it should be emphasized, for the finding that there was an Equal Protection violation. What was controversial was, first, the remedy upon which the majority agreed—that even though there was an equal protection violation, there was not enough time for a recount—and second, the suggestion that the equal protection violation was true only on the facts of Bush v. Gore; commentators suggested that this meant that the Court did not wish its decision to have any precedential effect, and that this was evidence of its unprincipled decision-making.

Ok, I see how the Equal Protection Clause applies to the Hijacking of the Presidency of the United States by the Bush Family. But perhaps you can explain how it specifically applies to Landrieu? - Sarcastic Citizen

Neoconservatism is a political philosophy that emerged in the United States of America, and which supports using American economic and especially "military power" to bring "liberalism", "democracy", and "human rights" to other countries and align their foreign policies with that of USA and Israel.[1][2][3] Consequently the term is chiefly applicable to certain Americans and their strong supporters. In economics, unlike traditionalist conservatives, neoconservatives are generally comfortable with a welfare state; and, while rhetorically supportive of free markets, they are willing to interfere for overriding social purposes. - INDEPENDENT

Define blatant failure to live up to her sworn oath to defend and protect the constitution of the United States. Read the Equal Protection clause? I think a better idea is to indict Sen. Landrieu in State Court. - ragin_cajun
