What is needed here, is to dismantle the SUNSHINE BRIDGE and re-erect the bridge, and lead on with a 4-lane directly to the I-12 / I-10 junction !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - NORTHSIDIAN SHOTGUN

Perhaps this should make us somewhat glad that Lafayette did not develop around a freeway "system". In effect, this has held check on sub-urban sprawl style developments. I don't suggest that the current situation is a pleasant one for all concerned who travel the main car arteries to the edges of Lafayette Parish daily, but reading this blog post should give us reason to consider and compare our situation to others. The state and federal governments will have been untold hundreds of millions, perhaps billions, performing freeway updgrades to I-10 and I-12 over the years, and what has it gotten Baton Rouge? Their traffic situation is probably worse than ever. How's that for progress? - Jason D. Faulk
