I'm from New Orleans but I'm not black. On a trip back from Shreveport last year I noticed that the black girls at a hotel just north of Alexandria started calling everyone -- without distinction of race or sex -- Honey, as is the practice here. Cajun music can still be heard on the radio at that point. From these data it would appear that a laid-back tolerant attitude extends north of I-10 along the new Interstate, perhaps even as far at Natchotiches. - Bill

Come on, guys -- I love regional self-promotion as much as the next guy, but it's comical to pretend that south Louisiana is some island of racial harmony compared to "rampantly racist" north Louisiana. I seem to remember David Duke getting an awful lot of votes down here not all that long ago. - Joshua Benton

The funniest part of this story is o'keefe saying he's a journalist. what a crock. i don't know much about journalism, but i doubt 60 minutes would pull anything as ridiculous as what this kid is doing. the fact that he is clear about his political leanings (to the right) removes him from the "journalist" classification.
poor kid must be watching fox and thinking it really is news.

Aw, c’mon! These are just a bunch of kids! This is just a harmless prank! You know what they say, don’cha? Boys will be boys!

No doubt about it. It’ll be amusing to watch the right wing media trying to spin this latest debacle. Yesterday O’Keefe was the newest Fascist poster boy. Today he is a man looking at a nice stint in federal prison. The Republicans are once again experiencing the kind of OOPS moment for which they have become famous for in recent years. It really is quite touching when you think about it.

What I love more than anything is the "harmless school boy prank" angle that the right wing is trying to spin! I did a little bit of research, folks. Little Jimmy O'Keefe is almost two years older than Lee Harvey Oswald was when he assassinated President Kennedy. So much for that argument - you would think.

Is this merely the tip of a nasty iceberg? Will O’Keefe “cooperate” with federal investigators in order to reduce his sentence? Are there bigger fish that are due some serious frying?

To be continued….
