His backers are primarily poor black people that worship Shelvin, and in their eyes he can do no wrong. There is a lot more out there on Shelvin, most of his dealings while with Thrifty Car Sales is unlawful and Shelvin should be prosecuted(soon or later, he will be). His political future within his district is not in trouble, because again most of his followers and supporters don't think much of his wrongdoing, they see it as an invasion of Shelvin's personal business and blame the media and everyone else. Again, there is a lot more to this story, we will see how this will play out.
