Recently switched from Cox to Lus Fiber. Issues: +,-
1. Technician showed up ON TIME ready to connect the house, but found the line hasn't been run. Workers T&T had actually shown up to bury the line, but decided to take the afternoon off and never returned. TEchnician got them out there with a larger crew in the cold rain and saw to it the job was done. Good job on the Tech's part. T&T need to go back to the state of T. By the way, the crew left a MESS for me (handicapped) to clean up which included putting step stones back in place. Weather was bad, but someone should have returned to clean up the mess.
2. Internet seems slow. I expected something more.
3. Webmail--The format is friendly, but freezes up regularly. Don't like having to log on everytime. It also times out and I have to relog on. Surely, there is a better route--I seem to be missing something here. How to get around this? - Mossy

I switched to LUS fiber from AT&T DSL and phone and Cox cable. The DSL signal dropped constantly. Difficult to keep wireless printer online. Had problems with Cox picture quality. LUS installed new wiring for my cable, great picture now. Much crisper/clearer than I ever had with Cox. I don't like LUS cable boxes (no clock),but am told they will improve offerings, soon.
Neighbor melted my cable line stapled to the back of my fence by Cox. Took Cox, 4 months and several calls to bury the temporary line laid on the ground across my backyard.
Fiber does not have everything Cox has, but I like it!Internet (slowest speed) is faster than DSL. Phone line is fine and TV picture is great.
My favorite was walking into Cox, returning 3 boxes and knowing I would never have to stand in that line or take a number and wait again! - Pedro

I appreciate the advice. Its relatively new construction, so I can try that. I have to say they've been out about 4 times in the past two years, but its been a long while since the last time. Now, don't get me wrong, the techs who've come, both inside and out, have been personable, respectful, all you could ask for. But since it still gives us problems, it makes me doubt the capability of the system. I will give it a try though. - Morrow

Morrow if you are having trouble, get them to send a technician out there. I have had problems from time to time (who hasn't) but they always get it fixed for me. I used to hate Cox, but in the last several years they been pretty good. One time I had a problem that was in my attic and they helped me find it. I had no idea that my wiring in my house could make a problem. All my stuff (phone, TV, internett) works great. - Wayne

glad to here all the comments about lus fiber but my question is when will they be able to service people in multi unit complexes??? Info on site under FAQ states that apartments and condo's would be serviced but presently that is not the case. I noticed in article that they will be connecting people in Phase 3 & 4 soon but i am in Phase 2 and still waiting on service. Can't believe this was researched before start-up and this problem was not addressed. - jp

I've had fiber to my house for several months. I would not switch back to cox and at&t. No problems with anything so far. I have the lowest internet speed offered and it is much faster than my previous at&t dsl connection. TV digital works fine...phone works fine. All at a better price that the others combined. Happy like a squirrel with a pocket full of nuts. - LF

Although I do save $$$. The technology is very standard and reminds me of the first Atari. Cox is far better, at this point. My SERVICE froze during the Saints playoff game & the presidential address. The DVR is very confusing. If this is not improved by years end , I am switching back to COX. - First LUS Subdivision

As I sit to read this, the Cox cable is blinking on and off. Well, not really, but it freezes up on me for a second, every couple of minutes. The computer did the same thing just now. Its been doing that for several weeks. I'm way out of the city, but I pray for a day that I could sign up for LUS electricity & cable, just like I choose my phone company. If I live to see that day, SLEMCO and COX can kiss my aggravated *** good bye. I have heard nothing but praise from the many friends in the city that have switched over. One is saving over $85 a month with LUS. Competition is a good thing. - Morrow
