I replied that should he address me in that manner that I would have to resort to "conduct "not" becoming an officer and a gentleman", but if he wanted a second opinion he could ask the wife of one of my fellow officers who was from Morgan City. A minute or so later I heard what was undoubtedly a slap, and I saw him holding his cheek with a very stunned look on his face. I never heard the term used again in that unit.
