This severely undercuts confidence in city-parish government, and that lack of confidence bleeds into every issue the government addresses. If consolidation was such a bad idea, only 10-15 years ago, I'd like to hear the reasons why it was done. What did they hope to achieve by consolidating city/parish government? Didn't anybody then look at the charter and ask "why do councilmen outside of the city get to vote on city issues that do not affect many/any of their constituents?" What did Joey Durel, Don Bertrand, Conrad Comeaux, Dee Stanley think about all this back then? Did they participate in the Charter commission back then? - ragin_cajun Wed, 28 Apr 2010 15:18:58 +0100
