Mary and Charlie (but especially Mary) can't and won't stop tooting that Oil company horn until the public in this state shows her otherwise.
Was interesting to watch her contort one issue into another on this broadcast.
Right there, that tells you all you need to know about who pays her bills.
The people of this state will do whatever meaningful, productive, value-added work comes our way, that doesn't mean that we personally in our identity are oil people. We are Louisianians first, we were here before they came to drill and we'll be here long after they walk away. The question is...do we determine our own future or do we take only what Oil and Gas will give us? Should we not insist on better?
I vote to stop being the nation's sewer and tailing pond sludge pit. - Unempirical Observer

Now someone tell me what does BP give a damn about a spill in American waters. Every oil producer has no problem coming down hard on any service company, when they are able to place blame on the service industry, who drill their wells, produce their wells, and make the necessary workovers as required to extend the life of their wells, but as in this case, they will hang out to dry any service drill company who has anything to do with their well, all of a sudden they want to point their finger and lay the blame on the service industry, as though the service industry was a partner in the well.............The oil operators must be inbred with Louisiana politicians, always pointing their finger at everyone else but themselves..........The USGS / MMS, whoever the hell was on watch, should have been regulating the oil operator and insuring that every safety precaution and safety shutins bottom hole and surface were operational. It is most important that the oil operators on-site company representative is an experienced man who is capable of supervising the drilling operation, with the capabilty and gonands to go against the grain and react when these problems surface without taking those precious minutes to acquire permission and obtain orders to secure the operation, and save life's.
Been there too many times, but no more, with the " Save a dollar, drill that hole, we'll put the fire out later " attitude of the Oil Operators........There are more problems of this sort with the big boys, the small guys are extra careful, they operate safer and slower, mistakes often occur when one does not take the time to work safely............... - Goodtime Charlie
