This should have been done from the start writes "wiping out all life in it's path."

The end is near, repent! Yeah, right. Hey, dip stick, we dropped the A-bomb on two Japanese cities, and guess what? People live there today. Repeat after me, "and this too shall pass"

Written by this should have been done from the start: The answer to your question is that BP was pinching their hinnys and praying the well would bridge over ! Any Oilman worth his salt, knows that if you succeed in inserting a tube down into the wells entrance and recover a portion of the oil gushing from the blowout and store the oil at the surface, """ Why not at that point inject cement/hvy. drilling fluids into the well and hopefully block the stream of fluids from the well.......Think on this ! There is a reason/reasons for the delay of measures by BP in killing this blowout, said reason/reasons, we'll never be privileged to hear from anyones mouth at any time. - Northsidian Shotgun

Why did it take these idiots this long to figure out to do this? Isn't it obvious since you use mud to balance a well in the first place?

How long will it take them to figure out that they need to get massive vacuum pumps and hoses on oil tankers out to the oil plumes ASAP?

The longer we wait the less dense the oil plumes will be and the more impossible it will be to extract them from the oceans.

Meanwhile these plumes will continue to roam the oceans, wiping out all life in it's path.
